Midway Drive-in is one of the last classic Midwest experiences left in the Sauk Valley area. Being a part of the community for more than 70 years, Midway Drive-in has been a main staple of Sauk Valley summers for decades.

Right on Palmyra road between, Dixon and Sterling, Midway Drive-in is a spectacle just to passing drivers from its 90-foot screen and its patriotic red, white and blue color scheme that coincides with the rest of the classic American experience it has to offer..

The Midway Drive-in has a showing each weekend that should please even the toughest of movie critics. Some showings this summer included the Halloween movie franchise and the box office smash Barbie.
To go along with the wide range of movies, Midway Drive-in offers a delicious snack bar with various classics like popcorn, corn dogs, soft pretzels and more.

The snack bar itself is a quaint building that follows suit with the red, white, and blue color scheme. From the vintage movie posters plastered on the walls, to the dedicated wall of autographs from visited movie stars from the past such as Robert Englund, actor of  Freddy Kreuger in the original Nightmare on Elm Street series, the small building is littered with mementos of cinematic history.

When it comes to the showing of the movie the picture is always clear and the start times are punctual. The only slight problem you might encounter is that between the passing traffic and there only being speakers in the back by the snack bar, hearing the movie may be a challenge but  that can be easily fixed by bringing along a small radio so that you can get the station playing the movie’s sound.

The Midway Drive-in is an awesome idea either for a nice, relaxed date or a movie night with the family. will hopefully remain a piece of the Sauk valley community for years to come.
